Zynga Announced Second Quarter 2019 Financial Results

Zynga’s varied suite of live mobile games drove the results of its second quarter, with the San Francisco-based company reporting year-over-year jumps in both revenue and bookings in its latest report. For the quarter ending June 30, Zynga reported $306 million in revenue, up 41 percent year-over-year. Likewise, bookings are up 61 percent versus the same period last year, coming in at $376 million for the quarter.

Zynga credits its high earnings to its live service games, specifically Empires & Puzzles and Merge Dragons. The two games, both being recent acquisitions, had record revenues and bookings during the quarter. Meanwhile, Words With Friends achieved its best mobile revenues and bookings in the franchises decade-long history. The company also named CSR2, Zynga Poker and Hit It Rich! Slots as major contributors to the quarter’s results, which is described as the “best mobile revenue and bookings performances in Zynga history.” By the way, you can buy Cheap Zynga Poker Chips from 5mmo.com, where you can enjoy a 3% discount by using the code “5MMO”.

The weakest part of the video game developer's earnings release was its unimpressive daily active user (DAU) growth and a decline for monthly active users (MAUs) compared with the prior-year period. However, these trends appear less concerning in light of increases for the company's full-year bookings and revenue guidance and confirmation that additional acquisitions are likely on the way.

To compound that growth, Zynga is looking at multiple paths forward. It wants to create more of these “forever franchises.” These are games that don’t just come and go. Instead, they come and then they stick around for years. The studio already has multiple releases like that with Zynga Poker and Words With Friends. But it believes it needs more. That is why it recently launched FarmVille 3. Additionally, the studio is working with more big intellectual properties. It just launched Game of Thrones Slots. And it also has games based on Star Wars and Harry Potter in the works.
