Women are making their debut on FIFA 16

For the first time in the history of the FIFA video game franchise, women are in the game. Twelve women’s national teams are available for game play, among them the US Women’s National Team, which was included in the FIFA 16 demo released today. That said, the USWNT player ratings are definitely raising eyebrows- particularly with Abby Wambach as the team’s highest rated player with a rating of 88. The "FIFA 16" let's its players jump into matches through the "Kick-Off" option and first time players on PC, PS4 or Xbox One will be thrown to El Clasico at the Bernabeu, homeland of the FC Barcelona. "FIFA Ultimate Team Draft" has been added too where players will be able to build its own team and play on offline matches. Alongside with the FUT, "FIFA Training" features a "new contextual training system that runs while you play" that can be turned off anytime, Mirror reported.

According to Time, Xbox users were the first ones who had the chance to download the game on September 8, but still depending on geographical location. "FIFA 16" will be available on PlayStation 4 in the evening of September 7 and 8. The women's teams playing in "FIFA 16" is perhaps the most-anticipated part in this series. This will both be special and a milestone for the franchise, as reported in Engadget. This will be the first time that EA will allow players to play the football game in one of the 12 women's national teams. Those who had tried the game early on said that there's really a big difference in playing with women than with men. Surprisingly though, games with women are said to be more fast-paced.

FIFA 16 is the first entry of the series featuring women’s national teams. Among them will be Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, Germany, Italy and United States. Women’s teams can be used to play in Match Day modes, online friendlies and in offline tournament modeled after the FIFA Women’s World Cup but not in matches against men’s teams. Several other new features will also be included in the game such as a new Training Mode in Career Mode, online play enhancements, new weather and kick-off time variations and much more. Elsewhere in the demo, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona top the bill of available teams for players to select from, along with Borussia Dortmund, Borussia M?nchengladbach, Chelsea FC, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, River Plate and the Seattle Sounders.

Consequently, playing with the women's sides in the demo feels like a noticeably different experience. There is more space, and consequently more time in which to pick passes and curate moves. When it comes to the ability of the players in comparison to the men there is little to choose between them. With EA making it impossible for the two sexes to compete against one another, both in the demo and full game, it has allowed for the female players to be rated on their own scale. USA World Cup winner Carli Lloyd is the stand-out player with a score of 91. In the men's game, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi exceed this, with Luis Suarez on 90.

Due to the nature of the deal, while the Brazilian teams included on the disc will have their authentic names, logos and kits, their players will remain unlicensed - although EA is hopeful of being able to work out a deal to include player visual and name likenesses as part of a future update. FIFA 16 offers a more hardworking game, true to the nature of contemporary packed mid fields. The game’s harsh difficulty provides for a genuine sense of achievement when you do manage to find a rhythm, keeping things tight at the back, retaining possession, and carving convertible goal scoring opportunities. But in the meantime playing FIFA can prove something of a strain. As always, FIFA stands out for its presentation: both for its graphics, and more importantly for the range of teams and modes on show.
