The most polished and enjoyable version of the football sim would be FIFA 16

A new FIFA game always generates excitement, let alone fifa 16 with women in it. Unless you’re Gareth Bale and you've just discovered that you’re only the 17th best player in the world according to EA’s rankings. You’d imagine that pro players would be a bit nervous about the release of a new FIFA game, especially if they’d enjoyed success on the previous title. Will the new game change things? Will they still be as good? It’s not something FIFA Interactive World Cup finalist Dave By the way is particularly worried about. In fact, after playing the FIFA 16 demo, he’s looking forward to putting FIFA 15 behind him.

There are a few other areas of FIFA 16 that need to be worked on as well. The Creation Centre, which had been my favorite feature over the last few years, has been left out due to the shift from Impact to Ignite. No longer can you create your own teams, with their own unique kits and crests. Career mode feels the same as ever, despite the new lick of paint, and custom tournaments have also been left untouched. It seems that the focus this year has definitely been on improving the action on the pitch rather than tackling game modes.

What factors should you consider when choosing the ideal formation? As most seasoned FUT 16 players have realized there’s no clear-cut answer for the above query, but you can use the following questions as excellent guiding beacons in making your decision. “What is your preferred play style?” “Do you love attacking through the wings?” “Do you relish keeping ball possession?” “Do you tend to incorporate a patient playing style?” “Are you into counter-attacking?” “Which is the formation that you are most conversant with and which do you especially get on with the most?

The only mode that has seen major changes, or rather updates, is FIFA 16 Ultimate Team (FUT 16). FUT 16 is an online version of the game that is about the buying and selling of ‘real’ players; it has online markets that shift and change with input from players around the world. FIFA 16 has also introduced more comprehensive ‘season loans’ of players to the game, where you can borrow high-profile players for a set number of matches. It’s up to you to use them wisely to win those big games. The newest feature in FUT 16 is Concept Squad, where you build a list of your dream team, and offers the ability to check your current squad against the Concept Squad to see how your players measure up. These introductions are nice elements that make FUT 16 more fun to play by giving you something to aspire to.

But in the end we have to mention what we think might be improved. Single player mods haven’t changed that much for a while. EA Sports simply isn’t offering any alternatives in last few editions. Many would agree that once you see graphic improvement it will be hard for players to return to the game because option wise, game is to similar to older incarnations of FIFA. So with FIFA 16 next year, they should definitely revamp single player mods. Being stale isn’t good in gaming industry and with PES as your main rival you must offer the best possible ideas which will attract players. However all in all, FIFA 16 is good game, one which offers a lot of improvements. We certainly cannot say we didn’t enjoy ourselves playing it, especially against each other. True football fans will appreciate improvements made and they will be among those who truly appreciate all this finesses and tiny improvements made by EA Sports.

The game feels more responsive and reactive to your actions on the pitch. Your players turn slower and more aline with a real-world gesture, which is the way it should be. Shots on goal and the goalkeeper reactions don’t feel too scripted or predictable, and instead, you’ll be treated to some tougher keepers (making those eventual goals all that more satisfying), but also some unexpected moments - something FIFA has lost in recent installments. The most iconic players will have their own movements and style in their virtual clones. This way, you will recognize Iker Casillas' style to stop the ball, the way Gareth Bale runs, or the agility of Cristiano Ronaldo when kicking the ball. The ball is also a very important "character" in the pitch. It will act as an actual ball would do, so you will see real physics on it.

However, other than an enhanced My Club feature with the latest news stories relating to your club of choice, there are few additions to the way fans can experience FIFA 16. EA Sports is instead steadily improving and enhancing the match day experience, while making the action on the pitch that little bit smoother. FIFA 16 may not be brimming with new ideas and game modes, but it is the most polished and enjoyable version of the football sim yet.
